Reset and get back to menu to engage USB mode?

I have an application running on my M5Stack (basic) now when connect the USB I can't see my device in Visual Studio Code. Do I have to burn the firmware just to get to the menu allowing me to put the device in USB mode? Otherwise how do I get to that menu before my app loads?

Hello, in visual studio code do you use micropython or arduino C? if it's arduino C it should work right away.
