Speaker - Cannot control length or volume

Hi,
Is the Speaker supposed to work yet, I've read a post 4 months old that states it's not working correctly.I tried the example and the beep and tone work but no volume control but when I add the code into mine the speaker just starts making a loud tone and doesn't stop ???
Anyone got it working in their project ?

@gadjet OK got it to stop making a continuous beep by adding the M5.update(); in the loop.
Volume still doesn't work though.
