OS X 14 for microPython development

I've been looking for a good introduction for the microPyhton development for the M5Stack Core system using an OS X device.
Most of the documents seem to be quite old. Are they still valid, even the installation guides for the USB-drive (things have changed a lot in the last years).Is there a current "Step by Step introduction" for the first "Hello World" microPython project?
Beside the installation, what is the preferred IDE beside Visual Code?
